Las Hnas. Murialdinas habiendo sido fundadas por el P. Luis Casaril, sacerdote josefino en el espíritu de San Leonardo Murialdo el 22 de septiembre de 1953 en Italia, se prolonga más tarde al Brasil por el P. Juan Schiavo en 1954, y en 1960 en el Ecuador por Mons. Maximiliano Spiller juntamente con la Dra. Guillermina Gavilanes y otras jóvenes muy entusiastas de seguir al Señor, con la finalidad de escuchar el clamor de niños, jóvenes y familias más pobres especialmente en el Oriente ecuatoriano. La joven Guillermina Gavilanes médica flamante que fue a trabajar como médica – misionera en el Tena, en el hospital de la misión Josefina, desde muy jovencita sintió esa llamada del Señor para consagrarse a El en servicio de los más pobres, y ese también fue el motivo del por qué estudió medicina, para que su misión sea completa (salud del alma y del cuerpo) y he aquí la ocasión de encontrarse con Mons. Maximiliano Spiller, Obispo del Tena, quien le propone iniciar la Congregación de Madres Murialdinas en el Ecuador y ella en espíritu de fe acoge esta llamada como “Una Mirada de Amor de Dios”; es así que con cuatro jóvenes más dan inicio a la comunidad Murialdina un 11 de febrero de 1960 en la ciudad de Ambato acompañadas de los padres josefinos, seminaristas y familiares de las hermanas.
